Wine Tasting: Rich Whites for almost-Spring

It’s the time of year where the weather is wintery-cold one day, and springy-sunny the next. And some days both. What better way to embrace the coming sunshine and still enjoy the comfort of a rich wine than to drink these richer, full-bodied white wines. Perfect for Sunday brunches, afternoon cheeses, and weeknight roasted chickens. Continue reading Wine Tasting: Rich Whites for almost-Spring

French Malbec: A Wine Tasting

Dark, easy to love, and even easier to drink, the Malbec grape has found untold popularity in Argentina, while many seem to overlook its origins in France.

Today, February 25th, we will be tasting four Malbecs, all from France.

We will explore two from its home in the foothills of the Pyrenees in southern France, and two from the Loire Valley in the north, where the grape has been grown for centuries under the local name Côt.

The tasting is from 12noon-3pm and is free for friends.

Ten Years Later: a Wine Tasting from 2007

Somethings show better with age.

Wines continue to slowly develop in the bottle as you let them rest. Those wines that are especially rough, or tart, or overwhelming (when they are young) end up growing up beautiful and complex (after a decade or so). Kinda like people in that way…

Today, Saturday, February 18th, we will be tasting three wines from 2007: one from Greece, one from Italy, and one from Argentina.

Not to be missed. Cheers!

Virginia Wine Tasting

We will be tasting:

  • Rockbridge “DeCheil Reserve” Chardonnay
  • Lovingston “Rotunda” Red Blend
  • White Hall Petit Verdot

The tasting is from 1-3pm and is free for friends.

Wine Tasting: The Beauty of Beaujolais

Beaujolais is the underdog in Burgundy’s red wine scene. Made from the Gamay grape, the often juicy and autumn-spiced light reds are perfect for fall flavors (especially the Thanksgiving table).

These will be the focus of this Saturday’s wine tasting: The beauty of Beaujolais! Continue reading Wine Tasting: The Beauty of Beaujolais
